| DESCRIPTION: Up to 10mm in length. A smart little Sawfly with black antennae with notecable white bands, a black head, thorax and abdomen and banded legs of black, white and chestnut. BEHAVIOUR: This species overwinters as an egg. The grey larvae have white flanks, a black head and feed on oaks. DISTRIBUTION: Local in throughout the UK. HABITAT: Hedgerows, woodland edges, woodland - all with Quercus present. PERIOD: September to November.  |
